This final drawing is based of the week one session, Viewpoints. In this session we looked at how different viewpoints can change the overall style of the piece and created two drawings using two different methods as explained in my viewpoints session blog. However, as part of a further task we were to create a final drawing using a different viewpoint as well as using colour and pattern to develop the drawing and environment further.
Therefore, for this drawing I used the same process of using the frame to help guide my drawing onto paper. For this drawing I also worked digitally using pencil tool as a base to help create the overall drawing before working on a layer underneath using a gouache digital brush to create a wash style, which adds a simplistic contemporary style to my overall drawing. I also kept to that simple cross hatching style seen in my previous two drawings as I felt this was an effective way to show shadows. However, I made sure to keep this much lighter as in the second drawing i created in became heavy and muddy in places.
Overall I was happy with how my third drawings turned out as I felt it combined all the important element which we learnt in today’s lesson such as proportion, composition and also the incorporation of foreground elements for example i created a direct focus on the monstera leaf as it stands out and pulls the viewer further into the image. These are elements that I must consider in my work when moving forward as they help create a successful illustration. I will also be interested in using the viewfinder method in the future as I felt it helped guide me when creating the base sketch.
